Sorry about that, it's been a long time since I blogged. But I kept a close eye on fashion and coming summer sales!
If you have a read at the other articles, you will see that I particularly like bow ties. To me, they are a great combination of vintage with modernity. They can be worn with formal wear (but you all know it) and also casual wear. They add this Je ne sais quoi to any outfit, a touch of originality and self-confidence. I have a wide collection at home and I'd say that my partner wouldn't beat me despite her (huge) collection of shoes!
What is so special about Switchwood?
Today is about wooden bow ties. They did catch my attention as they are interchangeable! Basically, you get the knot you want, in silk or in cotton, and you attach the wings thanks to magnets on each side of the knot. How great does that sound?!
Treasured by Drew Storm Graham and Sergio Villarroel, Switchwood is a pure Washington DC adventure that products these pieces of art using wood from sustainably harvested sources.
They are hand assembled to provide an unique and high quality result. These skilled artists can also personalise the bow ties from the patterns to the wood and wing shapes; engrave messages.
You understood right, their creativity, skills and technology can make you your perfect wooden bow tie. If you are also into cufflinks, they have a range of wood cufflinks here.
Silk knot, cotton knot, different wing shapes and wood! Here is a sample of the bow ties you can get; find all the wings on their A la Carte page.
A few details to know about these bow ties:
You can get a knot and a pair of wings from $75
The wood is nourished and treated to last thanks to linseed oil and a lacquer that will protect it.
The typical size goes up to 21 but they can do bigger sizes on requests at no additional charges. If that's what you want, just contact them on their website (on even Facebook) to precise your size.
They have made a very good video that sums up the characteristics.
Thanks for reading Gentlemen and if, by any chance, I get one I will blog about it!
